The SKY Meeting of the bredent group
A successful event: The SKY Meeting of the bredent group
The end of April saw the company bredent invite guests to Munich to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the SKY Implant System. The response was impressive; almost 1000 attendees from 45 countries travelled there and provided the conference with a fitting atmosphere.
A promising position
The attendees of the SKY meeting benefited from the expertise of many internationally renowned experts from a variety of fields of dentistry and dental technology. Those who attended on Thursday, for example, enjoyed a presentation by the experienced speakers Prof. Selim Pamuk and Prof. Aslan Gökbuget (University of Istanbul/Turkey). They let the audience share in their experiences with the 3D planning methods and demonstrated again how clinical difficulties can be avoided or accurately resolved using modern techniques. The advantages of the 3D planning method for the treatment team were illustrated using the SKYplanX software. Another of the guests who had travelled from Turkey was Prof. Aslihan Üşümez, who is also a professor at the University of Istanbul, but she was there to talk about a completely subject: “How can we support function and aesthetics using light energy”? There are a variety of opinions and viewpoints with regard to the latest results of laser-tissue interaction and the use of laser wavelengths. In her demonstrations, the speaker talked about anti-microbial photodynamic therapy (aPDT), a method in which the laser is used in combination with a light-activated dye in order to treat bacterial infections. Friday opened with a historical overview. Prof. (NY) Manfred Lang reported on the development of the SKY Implant System, in which the surgical aspects as well as the prosthetic aspects were taken into account ten years ago. The monoplatform of the system makes prosthetic care simple and cost-effective and this basic philosophy has therefore been continued during past years with the introduction of new product lines and abutments.
